Director, Okmulgee County Humane Society
Hours: In-office office schedule TBD, in addition to mix of remote work, special events and conducting meet & greets.

Reports to: Okmulgee County Humane Society Board/President 

Position Overview:
 
The Okmulgee County Humane Society is seeking a Director to fill an immediate need. The Okmulgee County Humane Society pulls dogs and cats at risk for euthanasia in the Okmulgee Animal Shelter and unites them with potential adopters and fosters, ultimately saving the lives of many – every year. This dynamic position requires heart, determination and dynamic thinking to achieve life-saving efforts and continue the momentum and improvement within this long-established organization. The ideal candidate for this Director role will excel in computer/social media use and have excellent communication and organizational skills. And of course, be an animal lover with good intentions to supporting unwanted animals in the community. The Director will make a colossal impact on one of Oklahoma’s larger counties, alongside a dedicated group of volunteers and fosters.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:  
  • Network dogs/cats brought into the Okmulgee Animal Shelter by Animal Control officer (employed by City of Okmulgee)
  • Promote adoptables/animals in pound on OCHS side, to foster and adoptive homes by way of Facebook, Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, Other
  • Review applications for adoptions and fosters
  • Keep adoption database up to date
  • Administer vaccinations/medications to animals
  • Arrange meet-and-greets with animals at the shelter office​
  • Recruit and foster engagement with volunteers/fosters
  • Recruit, on-board, and train new volunteers/fosters
  • Assist with TV and news/media interviews as needed
  • Coordinate pet food donations at shelter, needs for fosters
  • Help in-office clients with pet food, miscellaneous assistance as needed/approved by budget
  • Assist with and help coordinate special events (i.e., adoption events, fundraising events)
  • Further the partnership efforts between the Organization and City of Okmulgee
  • Respond to messages, including: the OCHS cell phone, Facebook, Petfinder inquiries, emails in a timely manner
  • Organize life-saving “transports” of animals to other lower-capacity rescues, whether in State of Oklahoma or Nationwide, with transport partners
  • Commitment to Education and Improvement, when opportunities arise
  • Generate monthly/quarterly reports for board meetings
  • Work closely with veterinary partner(s) on necessary procedures for adoptables, including spay/neuter
  • Assist with other tasks associated with OCHS, as needed
